Why is Cyclocort prescribed?
Cyclocort is prescribed for the relief of the inflammatory and itchy symptoms of skin disorders that are responsive to corticosteroid treatment.
Most important fact about Cyclocort
When you use Cyclocort, you inevitably absorb some of the medication through your skin and into the bloodstream. Too much absorption can lead to unwanted side effects elsewhere in the body. To keep this problem to a minimum, avoid using large amounts of Cyclocort over large areas, and do not cover it with airtight dressings such as plastic wrap or adhesive bandages unless specifically told to by your doctor.
How should you use Cyclocort?
Use Cyclocort exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is for use only on the skin. Be careful to keep it out of your eyes. Apply Cyclocort sparingly. Rub it in gently. --If you miss a dose... Apply the forgotten dose as soon as you remember. Use the remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced intervals. Never try to "catch up" by doubling the amount applied. --Storage instructions... Cyclocort can be stored at room temperature. Protect from freezing.
Cyclocort side effects
Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Cyclocort. - Side effects may include:

Why should Cyclocort not be prescribed?
If you are sensitive to or have ever had an allergic reaction to amcinonide or other steroid medications, you should not use Cyclocort. Make sure your doctor is aware of any drug reactions you have experienced.
Special warnings about Cyclocort
Do not use Cyclocort for any disorder other than the one for which it was prescribed. The use of tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants is not recommended for a child being treated in the diaper area. These garments may act as airtight dressings or bandages. The treated skin area should not be bandaged, covered, or wrapped unless you have been directed to do so by your doctor. If an irritation or allergic reaction develops while you are using Cyclocort, notify your doctor.
Possible food and drug interactions when taking Cyclocort
No interactions with food or other drugs have been reported.
Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
The effects of Cyclocort during pregnancy have not been adequately studied. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. It is not known whether this medication appears in breast milk. If Cyclocort is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment is finished.
Recommended dosage for Cyclocort
ADULTS
Apply a thin film of Cyclocort to the affected area 2 or 3 times a day, depending on the severity of the condition. Cyclocort lotion may be applied to the affected areas, particularly hairy areas, 2 times per day. The lotion should be rubbed in completely, and the area should not be washed and should be protected from clothing until the lotion has dried. Your doctor may recommend airtight bandages or dressings if you are being treated for psoriasis (a skin disorder characterized by patches of red, dry, scale-covered skin) or other stubborn skin conditions. If an infection develops, stop bandaging the area. CHILDREN
Topical use of Cyclocort on children should be limited to the smallest amount that is effective. Long-term treatment may interfere with children's growth and development.
Overdosage
A severe overdosage is unlikely with the use of Cyclocort; however, long-term or prolonged use can produce side effects throughout the body (see "Most important fact about Cyclocort").
